How-To
Rainbow Skin Art System is very easy to learn and use despite the look of complexity and intricacy of the finished artwork. Here is the instruction on how to apply our brand of skin art, shown with step-by-step process with visual guide.

Step 1 (Preparation)

howto1      wipe

The part of the skin where the skin art is to be applied should be shaven and be free of lotion or sunblock. Use a skin shaver and protein remover pad (included in the Professional Kit). You can use any makeup remover if you don't have the protein remover pads. More often than not, this step is NOT necessary. Little bit of hair and lotion residue is okay but you definitely want to get rid of residue sunblock. Sunblock prevents the base design to be transferred on to the skin properly.

Step 2 (Choose Design and Spray Transfer Liquid)

Choose your base design. Make sure you have made copies from the original Design Template Book that comes with your Professional or Junior Kit. Designs printed from your home or office laser printers work best.

For our purpose, we'll use a dragonfly, one of the most popular designs. Turn the base design over and spray the BACKSIDE of the design with Transfer Liquid. Make sure you cover the entire backside. ** Important: When you spray the Transfer Liquid, do it at least a few inches away from the target skin area. If you place the design directly over the target skin area and spray the Transfer Liquid, the base design won't transfer over properly.

Step 3 (Transfer Design on to Skin)

Immediately after spraying the Transfer Liquid, place the front side of the wet base design on the skin and apply light pressure with your fingers for 2 - 3 seconds. Use vertical pressing motion, not side-to-side rubbing motion when you do this. Then lift the base design to reveal the image transferred over on to the skin.

Step 4 (Apply Skin Adhesive)

glue1     glue2

glue3     glue4

Apply skin adhesive along the blackened area. We're "tracing" with the glue. (See? No artistic talent required!) Silver Cap glue has thick brush and Gold Cap has thin brush. Choose appropriate brush to do different parts of the design. When the skin adhesive is first applied (when wet), it has whilte/faint blue color to it. Use mini-fan (included in Professional & Junior Kit) to help along the drying process. Even without the fan, the glue should dry in a minute or two.

This is the most time consuming and important step. Using too much or too little glue results in your skin art not lasting as it's supposed to. A few practice runs will help perfect your technique. After you apply the skin adhesive, you have to wait until the glue is dry before you move on to next step. Take notice that as it dries, the glue becomes transparent, as shown on the last picture.

Step 5 (Apply Glitter)

glitter1

Now we begin the fun part. Once the glue is dry, choose your glitter color(s) and hold it as shown above and tap the bottom of the glitter bottle lightly so that the glitter particles flow out slowly. 2 things to keep in mind when you do this: 1). Do not hold the bottle completely upside down - it becomes difficult to control the outflow of glitter. 2). Make sure the tip of the glitter bottle does NOT touch the glued area for it will clog up the bottle opening.

You can choose whatever colors and however many colors you want. Practice it a few times and you will automatically get a sense of how to do this. Sometimes, it's better to use only 2 or 3 colors. Take note: there is no time limit as to when you have to apply glitter after the glue dries. The glue doesn't go away or evaporate. You can wait 2 hours before you apply glitter if you so desire (obviously you won't want to). So there's no rush.

Step 6 (Applying Pressure on Glitter to Adhesive)

After you've sprinkled glitter to cover the entire skin art area with different colors, apply vertical pressing motion with your fingers to help the glitter particles stick to the glue properly. Try not to use side-to-side rubbing motion.

Don't worry when you do this. It's supposed to look messy like the last picture does.

Step 7 (Finishing Touches)

brush1     brush2

tape     finished

Use makeup brush (included in Professional or Junior Kit) to brush away the loose glitter particles. You can use any makeup brush you have. It's advisable to use one-way brushing motion so that loose glitter particles collect in the same general area (easier to clean up afterwards). Use medical tape (included in Professional or Junior Kit) to lift away any other loose particles. And voila!! You're done.
